This series takes place online.

The past year has shifted and shrunk our worlds in unexpected ways. Many of us have spent countless hours confined within our homes, lost to virtual over-connectivity, or left to navigate new social extremes, exposed to worrisome instability. This sketchbook series offers a chance to reflect on these experiences creatively. Through a series of reflective prompts, participants will be guided to explore their past year through a visual lens and to compile these reflections into a sketchbook. Each week, Gabrielle will also introduce a new medium and technique for participants to work with.

A sketchbook is a perfect place to capture daily experiences and environments, while also improving drawing and painting skills. In this series, participants will learn the basics of how to start and maintain a personal sketchbook, or continue on with one already begun. We will work on five individual drawing and painting projects, learning how to execute the given prompt with the week’s medium and technique. Classes are open to all levels of students. As this series involves an extensive materials list, participants may also choose to work with mediums that they have on-hand for each class (even a simple pencil and eraser will suffice). Drop-ins are always welcome.

Tue. 02 March 19.00 - 21.00 - Prompt 1: Getting started: basics of pencil drawing
