NADAS was founded in April 2018 by Ahu Toksöz and Jessica Sim with the support of a wider team and community, including resident artists and team members, Gabrielle Reeves and Nora Byrne. The project occupies a beautiful 3-storey house with a garden, built in the 1930s and located in Yeldeğirmeni, Kadıköy, Istanbul.
NADAS's history
NADAS opened its doors in 2018, established as a centre for projects that support the diversity of urban life and relationships between people and their environments. Pre-pandemic, NADAS hosted creative workshops, classes, meetings, gatherings, gardening, plant care, studio work, co-working facilities, art classes, art residencies, film screenings, and exhibitions. By providing space for ideas to be heard, tested and integrated, NADAS built a community around living slowly, mindfully and empathetically.
Programming continues today in similar as well as new formats, including workshops and plant talks.
